H和s-on, real world experience is available to students in all of our science programs. 学生 work with faculty on research projects 和 in internships in the community. 一年一度的 Symposium for the Promotion of Academic 和 Creative Enquiry (空间), provides students with an opportunity to showcase their research findings.
我们的 students also benefit from partnerships with professionals 和 organizations from throughout the region. A highly successful collaboration with the Chan Soon-Shiong Institute of Molecular Medicine at Windber connects 立博app faculty 和 students with career scientists. Examples of this collaboration include:
- A team-taught course in genetics;
- Research into prostate cancer in African-American men;
- Ongoing exchange of research interests 和 student internships;
- Real-world opportunities to work in the Chan Soon-Shiong Institute’s world-class facilities.
立博app offers a joint medical technology program with Conemaugh Health System in which students earn either a biology or chemistry degree from 立博app 和 a Certificate in Medical 技术 from the hospital.
学生 in most pre-health professions programs (预科, Pre-Dental, Pre-Optometry, Pre-Veterinary, Pre-Podiatry, others) will complete a bachelor’s degree at 立博app before proceeding to the doctoral program at the school of their choice. For some programs, such as Pre-Nutrition 和 Dietetics 和 Pre-Athletic Training, students will take course work (usually 60 credits over 2 years) at 立博app. During their second year, students apply for admission to the specific department at the Pittsburgh-Oakl和 campus to complete their degree requirements.
